Season 8 Episode 2

Feb 12, 2024

We made our first ever trip to AMF Columbia and it was a great decision.

We had 42 bowlers show up for our no tap event. They bowled on the 2022 US Open #4 pattern which provided a lot of splits and no tap strikes. After 5 games, Trent Wolfe took the victory with a score of 1159, while his brother, Brandon Wolfe, got the free entry into Sunday’s scratch event. Brandon finished 11th with a score of 1018.

On Sunday, 45 bowlers laced em up for some tough competition. After a little delay, we finally got started and the scores took off as well. After the dust settled, PBA50 player, Randy Weiss led with a score of 1065 (195-223-203-255-189) while Phil Kaiser was the cut at 979 (176-171-244-179-209).

Our top 5 received a one round bye in the bracket finals, so #6 Chris Miller defeated Kaiser 236-187, #7 Josh Lewis got by #10 Trent Wolfe 187-147, and #9 James Seale pulled the upset against the #8 seed Jamozzy Skenandore 183-179.

Seale advanced to face our tournament leader, but couldn’t get it down as Weiss moved on 177-156. Our #4 seed Team USA member Alex Glinski defeated #5 Bobby Bruce 224-199, Lewis defeated the #2 seed Leon Platt 231-179, and Miller continued his climb as he escaped #3 Jeff Himes 178-154.

In the final four, Weiss defeated Glinski by coming in clutch late by a score of 259-235, and Miller defeated Lewis 172 to 158. In the championship match, neither bowler could get all 10 down consistently, until Weiss came in clutch in the 8th and 9th to defeat Miller 211-192.

This was Randy Weiss’s 2nd Bracket Challenge title!

The GM at AMF Columbia made the comment that there was not a lot of locals on Saturday, which only emphasized more to us that you all support us month in and month out. We try to put on the best events possible. Also, thank you to the 45 that showed up Sunday and endured the mishap. Your patience was noted and appreciated by everyone.
