LOCKEd In

Dec 6, 2023

Brian Locke, out of the Raleigh, NC area seems to show up in big moments. He won our Bracket Challenge Open back in November to qualify him for our annual Tournament of Champions.

We had around 80 bowlers eligible for our TOC with 24 showing up to compete on a somewhat easy pattern by our standards. The pattern did get leaked Saturday afternoon to some of those who were in attendance, but was posted on Sunday during check-ins.

Josh Lewis, out of Weaverville, NC led qualifying with a 6 game score of 1317 including a high game of 256. Our cut, 12th, was Josh Collins from Milligan University. He compiled a 6 game total of 1169.

Our match play bracket included some really nice matches. Our 5 and 12 match included collegiate teammates, and so did our 7-10 match up. We saw the highest scoring match of the day between Nathaniel Potter and David Gilliam – neither could miss and Gilliam escaped with the win. Our finals had Brian Locke against our 7 seed Nate Trentler, but only after Trentler narrowly got by hard throwing Gilliam.

This was Brian Locke’s 2nd major victory this year and third overall. Maybe 2023 was the year of The Marshall?!
