It Was A Major Weekend

Mar 25, 2024

We have 4 majors throughout our season and this past weekend was our Bracket Challenge Open…major #1 on the calendar.

We had 41 show up on Friday night to challenge our custom pattern from Kegel. We learned very quickly the scoring pace was not going to be a typical Bracket Challenge major. We had 4 average over 250 in our no tap, with Neal Nakandakare and Jerry Pugh taking the win at 1356 (271.2 average). We had 8 300 games and 9 more that came within one frame of adding their name to the Perfection list!

On Saturday, we had 2 shifts for qualifying, and with a lot of other options to bowl, we had 38 total competitors. Scores stay crazy high for us – especially when a major title is on the line – as our leader, Kevin Shafer, averaged more than 252 for his 5 games. We took the top 9 to our double elimination finals on Sunday, and the cut was Austin Terry at 1098.

On Sunday, our day started with Dustin Davis vs Austin Terry in a two game total pinfall match. Davis led after game 1 by 10 pins, but lost his look on the next pair and Terry took the match 494-409. To make staying in a hotel worth it, we guaranteed everyone on Sunday 3 games minimum so matches 1-5 were all two games total pinfall. As you can see, the scores stayed HIGH all weekend.

CONGRATULATIONS to long time supporter Rick Galpal on his first Bracket Challenge title and first major win!

Upcoming Schedule:
April 6/7 – Boulevard Lanes in Anderson, SC
April 20/21 – Western Ave in Knoxville, TN
April 27/28 – Pla Mor Lanes in Coldwater, OH

As always, thank you is the best we can do to express our gratitude to all of you who continually support us.
